Is a topless cruise ship for you?
Here in the Caribbean, a topless cruise ship pulling into harbour can be something of a fascination to some locals and a culture shock to many who are still unexposed to a clothing optional lifestyle.
I too was somewhat surprised about my first encounter with a topless cruise ship. I have since come to accept the view that a clothing optional or naturist lifestyle is one that should be treated with tolerance.
Being clothing optional is really all about having un-inhibited fun, the ultimate freedom of expression; and I tip my glass to all those who can indulge.
Here in the Caribbean, these adult cruises come around periodically; usually departing from Fort Lauderdale in Florida and visiting ports of call including Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Aruba, Antigua and St. Maarten.
These cruises are mostly chartered and are primarily offered by smaller sized ships, although mega ships such as Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas also offer clothing optional cruises.
Of course, there’s no rule stipulating that one has to display nudity on a topless ship, but why go on a cruise that is open to nudity if you know you won’t want to participate in the culture?
Just like ordinary cruises, on a nude cruise you still get to enjoy all the facilities available onboard much the same; only you do so with your clothes off.
The best part really is the entertainment onboard. These fun cruisers really know how to live it up and they do so by hosting some of the most risqué parties at sea; where you will also witness some of the most innovative costume designs, including unique body paintings.
There is one main restriction experienced on most clothing optional cruises; clothing is actually required for dining purposes especially within the main dining room. The number one reason for this is of course hygiene, but there is the also the issue of spillage which can result in harmful personal accidents. Other areas where clothing is required may apply such as the lobby.
A topless cruise is usually adult oriented; therefore the passengers onboard will all be mature individuals ranging from young folks to retirees .
Please note that on a top less ship to the Caribbean, the crew members will still be clothed; only the cruisers are actually naked.
Additionally, when visiting a port of call- you must put your clothes back on! Most Caribbean islands do not accept public nudity so openly displayed. However there are several nude beaches across the Caribbean where public nudity is totally accepted.
Don’t expect to pay the same rate on a topless cruise ship as you would an ordinary cruise. The cruise fare for these adult only cruises go up significantly as cruises are normally chartered.
OK, now that you have the basic idea about a topless cruise ship, check out these upcoming 2012 and 2013 adult only and clothing optional cruises!
