Interested in San Juan Puerto Rico weather? I’m thinking that you might have an upcoming trip…say like a cruise and stay vacation on the horizon or maybe you are just doing some research. Whatever the reason, you will find this San Juan Puerto Rico weather info useful and helpful.

The climate of Puerto Rico is tropical as is many of the Caribbean islands. As such Puerto Rico experiences a predominant wet and dry season with warm temperatures and a constant humidity year round.

There are however variations in the weather experienced on the island, depending on where you visit. As an example, areas close to the mountainous peaks of Cordillera tend to have much cooler temperatures, a higher wind speed and a lot more rainfall than more lower lying areas such as San Juan.

You must bear in mind that the Caribbean islands including Puerto Rico experiences an annual hurricane season which starts at the beginning of June and run up until the end of November.

Getting back to San Juan Puerto Rico weather,

Hurricane: You need not be too worried about a hurricane affecting you while in San Juan. I cannot predict the future but if we should go by the historical trend, I can tell you that the last major hurricane that affected the island of Puerto Rico was the Lake Okeechobee Hurricane in 1928. That was a category 5 hurricane. Following the current trend, you might have to wait a decade before a hurricane threatens the island and about 5 years for the lesser severe tropical storm.

Temperature: As it regards San Juan Puerto Rico weather in particular, temperatures here are constant, averaging around 27°C or 80°F year round. Temperatures are known to fall by around 10° whenever a cold front or other intermittent weather of that nature passes close to the island.

Nimbostratus Rain Clouds

Rainfall: With San Juan Puerto Rico having a tropical climate, rainfall is experienced year round. However there is a known rainy season lasting from April to November with the heaviest rainfall been experienced in the month of August. On an average day there might not be any rainfall in San Juan, especially if you wake up to a warm sun shining out of a clear blue sky. However if you see the Nimbostratus clouds as shown in picture appear in the sky; that is a warning that there is rainfall imminent, so do walk with an umbrella if you must go out.

Wind: You will experience a constant light to moderate wind on the island of Puerto Rico. In San Juan, you will most experience sea breezes.
