So What’s on Your Packing List for Caribbean Cruise?

Here’s what’s on mine plus the story on what led me to create a Packing List for Caribbean Cruise.

Well I have a friend who I absolutely do not like cruising with (I hope she doesn’t read this). No matter how many times I tell her to make a list of her ‘must have’ items, she never does.

Then whenever she realizes that she forgets something important, she turns around and helps herself to all my stuff, leaving me at a disadvantage!

So here I am with my guide on Packing List for Caribbean Cruise.

The first step in packing for your Caribbean cruise vacation is to compose a check list of all those items that you use on a daily basis; the essentials that you cannot do without.

In my case, that would be my tweezers for pesky hair growth (I won’t tell you where!). For men, this could be your special deodorant, hair brush and let’s not forget this one which goes out to both males and females, condoms.

As they say about Vegas, ‘whatever happens on a cruise ship should also stay on a cruise ship;’ there’s no point in walking off with an unwanted health crisis if you know what I mean.

Of course many essential and other items are sold onboard the ship; however you must be prepared to pay significantly higher prices for them.

Here is a check list (In no particular order) that I have made up to assist you with your own packing list for Caribbean cruise. Remember that you should also check with your travel agent about packing guidelines for your particular cruise line. You may investigate directly also.

  • As the Caribbean’s climate is warm all year round you need to pack clothing that is light and breezy as the days tend to get hot and you won’t want to be feeling uncomfortably warm during your shore excursions.
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and big hats to shelter you from the direct rays of the sun are a must-there is a picture of me wearing all these items at the bottom.
  • Essential travel documents such as passports etc.
  • Your driver’s license, as you might just want to rent a car and go on a tour at a port of call, so best be prepared.
  • Make up items such as lip gloss, moisturizer etc.
  • Cellphone and charger.
  • Camera with battery and an extra memory card.
  • Flashlight (With working batteries!).
  • Walkie-talkies for communication onboard the ship. Please check with your cruise travel agent about walkie-talkies as some cruise lines, for example Disney, provide phones onboard.
  • International phone cards to cut back on cellphone roaming charges and high ship charges.
  • A pair of binoculars for sighting your port of call as your ship approaches, this is pretty exciting!
  • An underwater camera for snorkeling and diving adventures.
  • Although most cruise lines provide a hair dryer inside staterooms, if you have particularly heavy hair, you might want to consider bringing your own as the ship’s hairdryer might not be powerful enough for you.
  • Essential medications that you need to take on a regular basis; while ship doctors are onboard to help you, their fees are not included in your cruise fare, plus they might not have the medications that you need to take.
  • A small first aid kit especially for families; first aid is available onboard but it’s always best to have your own.
  • Language dictionary for translation at Non-English speaking ports of call.
  • Ear plugs; well needed especially if your cabin is located directly below a disco or night club.
  • Bug spray for when you go on shore, no worries on the ship which is normally bug free.
  • Books for reading while you lounge by the pool or relax in your cabin and a journal to document your experience. You may also consider bringing a travel guide to help you navigate your ports of call.

Please note that on the day of your cruise, your hand luggage should preferably contain all the essentials that you need for that first day. Because, should there be any delays in your bags being delivered to your stateroom, you will at least have what you need to survive.

I hope you find this info on Packing List for Caribbean Cruise helpful. If you were wondering if my friend ever uses this list…the answer is no.

She is what we would call ‘hard-a-hearing’ in the Caribbean, which means stubborn and unfortunately for me, she continues to use up all my stuff.
