Jamaica fun excursions, explored

You cannot afford to sit out Jamaica’s port of call. When your cruise ship arrives, you owe it to yourself to get off and explore the island and its people. Much too often, the natural beauty of the island remains unseen by those who do not venture off the ship.

I personally consider this sort of vacation incomplete as there is just so much shore excursions Jamaica to see and do off ship, including the sampling Jamaica's delicious cuisine!

In fact you will find that going on an excursion will lead to extraordinary discoveries far more fulfilling than simply lounging by the pool and drinking liqueurs; although that too can be quite enjoyable.

Here are some Jamaica fun excursions that you can check out:

SPEND A DAY AT NEGRIL BEACH

Negril beach is Jamaica’s largest and most popular beach, so much so that in order to it justice I had to give this excursion its own page. Please click on the following link to view vivid pictures and read all about Negril beach Jamaica. Go to Negril Beach!

VISIT THE WATERFALLS

YS Falls Jamaica

I really do consider this tranquil environment one of the better choices for experiencing Jamaica fun excursions. Indeed the island has many spectacular waterfalls that tourists find simply irresistible; but there are three in particular are favourites and so are visited more frequently than others. These are YS Falls (Shown in pic.) in St. Elizabeth, Dunn’s River Falls in Ocho Rios and Mayfield Falls in Westmoreland.

There are not enough words that can be used to describe the beauty of these spectacular waterfalls. From pristine waters cascading off rocks into natural pools, to exotic flowers, birds and other animal life; these waterfalls put you right in the midst of nature.

Visitors are treated to guided tours of these falls, where river tubing, group climbs and even zip line canopying is available.

Please remember to bring appropriate foot ware for your day out at the falls. You may refer to this distance table to find out how far away these waterfalls are from your specific cruise pier.

SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS

Dolphin Cove

This Jamaica fun excursion is another favourite of mine and is available at Dolphin Cove, located in the towns of Ocho Rios and Lucea. Lucea is a 45 minutes’ drive from both Montego Bay and Negril, therefore if your ship is docked in Montego Bay, a trip to see the Dolphins should certainly be considered.

Highly intelligent, the featured Bottlenose Dolphins are trained to perform a well-choreographed set that will wow you in every way!

Life vests are provided for a personalized interaction that includes an exchange of kisses and hugs and of course swimming. For those who want to do a little more, stingrays are available for petting or you can go on a camel ride.

DISCOVER ECO-TOURISM SITES

Negril Eco

The Negril Royal Palm Reserve is a premier eco-tourism site in Jamaica. This scenic environment set in a tranquil forest within the Negril Great Morass is home to swarms of colorful butterflies, exotic birds, fish and wild life.

In addition, the royal palm found growing here is endemic to Western Jamaica, which means they are found nowhere else in the world!

A guided tour along the boardwalk trail is offered where visitors are treated to a running commentary of the plants and animals found in this location.

A museum is also on site for visitors to learn more about native plants and animals.

You can further enjoy your trip by fishing in the river or taking your own special nature walk.

If you get thirsty, there is a lake side bar which serves up a variety of drink items to quench your thirst.

ZIP LINE CANOPY

For those seeking the ultimate adrenalin rush, a zip line canopy tour is one sure way to launch your rocket! Offering a combination of rainforest bobsled and zip line adventure, Mystic Mountain in Ocho Rios is said by many to offer the best experience.

You can also check out Chukka Caribbean Adventures located in Montego Bay and Falmouth for zip line canopy as also river tubing and ATV tours.

VISIT BRACO STABLES

Braco Stables in Trelawny promises a truly fun and enjoyable experience for the entire family! Get to experience horseback riding Braco style, which a tour through the scenic countryside, continuing on to a private beach where you then get to swim bareback with the horses.

There’s also a Hike & Bike Excursion, where it's all about having fun experiencing the land and learning about Jamaica's indigenous flora and fauna; all with the added bonus of getting fit.

Braco Stables is only a 15 minutes’ drive from the new Falmouth Cruise Ship Pier, 45 minutes from the Ocho Rios Cruise Ship Pier and one hour from the Montego Bay Freeport pier in Jamaica. You can read more about Braco Stables here.

Now that you have an idea of what Jamaica fun excursions have to offer, I hope you will try out one or two of these excursions on your visit to Jamaica; but hey why stop now, access more Jamaica excursions right here!

There is several taxi operators located at cruise shipping piers to offer you transportation services, therefore getting around should not be a problem.

Finally, no Jamaica fun experience is complete without a sampling of the island's cuisine. Here are some delicious Jamaica restaurants that you can check out during your time on the island.
