First and foremost, let me congratulate you on getting married in Dominica. You have chosen a most beautiful island to host your wedding.
Here are the legal requirements for getting married in Dominica.
At least one spouse must be on the island a minimum 48 hours before the wedding ceremony is set to occur.
Both spouses must seek marriage counseling from respective counselors on the island.
A marriage license application form ‘G’, must be obtained from the Ministry of Community Development and Women Affairs, located at Government Headquarters, Roseau Dominica [767-448-2401].
This form must be completed and the signing by both spouses must be done in the presence of a magistrate and one other witness.
The completed application form must then be returned to the Ministry of Community Development and Women Affairs along with the following documents for both spouses:
The required fee for marriage license is EC$300 or US$112; which must be paid upon submission of all required documents.
After an application has been processed, a marriage license is then issued.
If you wish to have your wedding done by the Dominican Registrar Office (Same address and telephone number as Ministry of Community Development and Women Affairs, given above), you may go there with your marriage license and a fee of EC$30. For all ceremonies away from the premises of the Registrar Office, the cost is EC$100, there is also an additional charge for transport.
There are specific governmental regulations regarding church weddings in Dominica. You may contact the registrar’s office to find out what those regulations are, as they differ depending on the church being used.
As a general guide, for use of the Roman Catholic Church, spouses must present documentation from the parish priest verifying that all the requirements have been observed. They must also attend a minimum three counseling sessions with the priest. The charge for a church wedding is EC$150 or US$57. Please double check EC$-US$ currency conversion on the internet.
OK, now that you have your getting married in Dominica details all sorted; please take some time to explore the different accommodation, restaurant and shore excursion facilities available on the island.
