St. Thomas, USVI

Accomodation on St. Thomas island is not cheap but here are some Caribbean budget hotels on the island that I was able to discover during my stay there.

Island Beachcomber Resort: Lindberg Bay; www.islandbeachcomber.net; 340-774-5250.

Island Beachcomber

Private balcony rooms, a lush tropical garden and a prime beachfront location are some of what the Island Beachcomber offers. Although I wasn’t a guest at this hotel, I spent many of my days in St. Thomas hanging out at this resort.

I found that the rooms could do with a much needed overhaul; but I simply could not get enough of the lush tropical garden and the white sandy beach. Most of the restaurant staff I encountered was also quiet warm and friendly; however I must warn you about the food…certainly not the best in St. Thomas.

The beach at this resort becomes populated on port days when cruise ships are in harbour. I think this is probably when the Island Beachcomber receives its largest crowd.

Overall, the Island Beachcomber is private and tranquil on non-ship days and whenever I’m back on the island of St. Thomas for a cruise and stay vacation, I know that I’ll be visiting this resort again.

Bunker Hill Hotel: Charlotte Amalie; www.bunkerhillhotel.com; 340-774-8056.

This charming Bed and Breakfast located in Charlotte Amalie is just a few minutes walking distance from the town center and offers a breathtaking view of the harbor and other surrounding areas.

Standard rooms are clean, comfortable and affordable priced; superior rooms come with their own patios. Standard amenities include A/C, phone, TV, two swimming pools and a restaurant.

A full breakfast is complimentary each morning.

Galleon House Bed and Breakfast Inn: Charlotte Amalie; www.galleonhouse.com; 340-774-6952.

13 air conditioned rooms, a complimentary breakfast cooked to order, swimming pool and Wi-Fi are all featured at Galleon House. All rooms are non-smoking; however there are designated areas where smoking is allowed.

Windward Passage Hotel: Charlotte Amalie; www.windwardpassage.com; 340-774-5200.

This condo styled hotel is conveniently located a block away from downtown Charlotte Amalie.

Well known for its business services, the Windward Passage which is also the former Holiday Inn hotel is very popular with business travelers.

A combination of rooms and suites are offered, some with a view overlooking the harbor at Charlotte Amalie; all of which contain A/C.

A range of complementary services are offered including Wi-Fi, parking and free taxi service to Magens Bay Beach.

The Winward passage is one of the many Caribbean budget hotels that promote a smoke free environment, which means smoking is not allowed in rooms or indoor public areas.

I hope the info provided on these Puerto Rico and St. Thomas Caribbean budget hotels was helpful. Do make contact with these hotels directly to find out additional information.
